Our Pre-K program prepares children for a smooth and confident transition into kindergarten through a rich balance of structured learning and joyful discovery. Each day is filled with opportunities to strengthen early literacy and math foundations, expand Bible knowledge, and build social and emotional skills. Children learn phonics-based reading readiness, number recognition, handwriting, and problem-solving while exploring exciting weekly themes that connect to the world around them. With nurturing teachers, engaging activities, and a Christ-centered focus, our Pre-K classrooms inspire curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Options:
5 Days a Week
9:00 AM – Morning Meeting and Bible Time
Our Pre-K students begin the day with a warm welcome, prayer, and an engaging Bible story that builds character, faith, and community.
9:30 AM –Core Instruction
During this focused academic block, children build a strong foundation in early literacy and numeracy.
During our phonics portion of the block, teachers introduce letters phonetically, helping students connect sounds to symbols and begin decoding simple words. In math, children engage with hands-on materials that support conceptual understanding of numbers, patterns, and problem-solving.
Classrooms are text-rich environments filled with stories, labels, charts, and interactive displays that encourage children to see themselves as readers and writers from the very start.
10:00 AM – Snack Time
A cheerful break for fellowship and conversation as students enjoy a healthy snack and practice independence.
10:30 AM – Outdoor Play and Gross Motor Fun
Students enjoy active playtime on the playground or gym, developing coordination, balance, and teamwork through structured and free play.
11:00 AM –Differentiated Small Groups
During this time, children rotate through small, teacher-guided groups designed to meet their unique learning needs.
Some students receive additional support and review of foundational concepts, while others participate in enrichment activities that extend classroom learning.
This approach allows every child to progress at their own pace—building confidence, mastery, and a lifelong love for learning.
11:30 AM – Story Time and Daily Wrap-Up
We close the morning with a story, song, or reflection that reinforces the weekly theme and celebrates the joy of learning.
12:00 PM – Dismissal
Our Pre-K students head home confident, capable, and ready for kindergarten success!
An Oklahoma native, I graduated from UNC-Charlotte and lived in Matthews, NC for the last 20 years until moving back to the area in 2017. My husband and I have 4 children: Emma, Will, Wyatt, and Ava Grace. We live on a small farm where we grow lots of fruits and vegetables along with raising chickens, goats, ducks and pigs.
I love teaching and have taught 12th grade through TK in Matthews and here in the Burlington area. Each day brings new hope and new opportunities to serve our Lord and grow in His love for us. As I begin this new season with your child, I want to thank you for trusting me to guide them. I look forward to all the memories we will make together!
I was born in Germany and spoke German until I started kindergarten at which point my family moved to the United States. I attended Appalachian State where I majored in Elementary Education and began a decade of teaching third grade in Wake County. After completing a master's degree at NC State, my husband and I moved to Burlington where I taught preschool before our youngest daughter was born. We have three girls that have been, or will be, part of the Learning Center's excellent education.
I'm excited to get to know your child and your family. It's always a joy to learn how each child best learns and for me to adapt to their specific needs. What an amazing year it's going to be!

Hi, families! My husband and I both grew up in this area and now have two wonderful little girls, one of whom attends TLC. I've spent the past nine years teaching elementary and middle school in ABSS. I hold undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education, as well as a master's degree in Special Education from UNCG.
I am so excited for a year full of growth and learning, and I can't wait to watch your child flourish academically, socially, and spiritually in our fours' class!
